How Much Is Too Much?

Too much of a good thing is wonderful. Mae West

On October 11th I learned that I published my 99th blog. That caused me to pause and wonder: How many blogs is too many? Writing my blogs has been a good thing for me.But is 100 too much of a good thing? I’m sure Mae West wasn’t thinking of writing blogs, but I am beginning to think that writing 100 blogs is wonderful for me so I should continue writing more. Notice I haven’t asked for others opinions.

In my first blog, June 9, 2012 I was willing to admit that I really don’t know life at all. Much of our reality is a confusing, cognitive mess, highly irregular, disorderly, and not only more or less unpredictable, but also more or less unknowable. You and I really don’t know reality at all. My theme is that we experience far less of our reality than we think we do. What part of reality am I missing? What part are you missing?

This theme has continued and will continue because I believe we need to accept the reality of not knowing (positive uncertainty) and we need to be willing to look carefully at the way we personally see things (the process of illumination). I will continue promoting self-awareness, which could be called mindfulness. John Kabat-Zinn says: Mindfulness is an “inner technology” — a way of looking deeply into oneself in the spirit of self-inquiry and self-understanding.”

I also believe that when posting my blogs no longer is a wonderful good thing for me I will know it and discontinue posting. Until then my next blog is about self-awareness: “Do you know thyself?”

Amazing! And I am glad you are continuing….and No, I cannot claim to have much self-awareness. How are you? Betsy
