My recommended strategy is to use goals to guide you, not govern you. Keeping your eye only on the target prevents you from seeing other options. A goal is a destination but your life is a journey. Being flexible about where you are going and how you are getting there helps you notice some of the unseen possibilities of life’s journey.
Decision making should be as much a process of discovering goals as achieving goals. James March
